How can the strategies of contemporary artists and thinkers help create alternate and restorative futures?

Virtual Ecologies is a series of public performances, panels, and presentations that will explore the link between art, environmental impact, and social change. The events will bring together artists, scientists, journalists, scholars, land stewards, engineers, community organizers, and activists to surface the variety of strategies that people are using to make ecological artwork. Through discussing local and global impact, creative media techniques, and ethical community practices, this interdisciplinary series will interrogate how contemporary art practices are creating change. This will contribute unique insights into the links between art and impact, particularly with regards to new media and climate communication.

The series will culminate in the production of a beautifully designed and printed book, part of a larger series of books produced by the Topography project. The book will include: edited conversations with artists, a toolkit of strategies for practitioners and organizations looking to make impactful environmental art projects, commissioned articles, artworks and illustrations.
